Despite the teams offering solid collective performances, New Prague’s girls’ and boys’ golf teams came up just short in their bids to win entry into the state golf competition. The Trojans also had two individuals narrowly miss winning their way into the state field.
Competing in a two-day event at Ridges at Sand Creek, a course New Prague players have competed on before, both NPHS teams came up just shy of qualifying for the second day of team play. Raquel Ahrens and Andrew King, a state entrant last spring, made the second day as an individual competitors. Ahrens missed the cut for state by three strokes. King missed a return trip to state by nine strokes.
NP girls finish fifth The Trojans enjoyed a solid showing at the section meet, finishing fifth, just outside the cut to advance as a team to the section’s second day of competition.
