Thanks to New Prague American Legion Post 45 Ballroom, fireworks will be part of the Independence Day holiday again this year.
Wednesday, July 3, just after sunset on the middle school grounds, a pyrotechnics display will be presented.
There will be the chance for people to socialize, enjoy food from vendors, check out vehicles on display, and enjoy a massage from a local chiropractor while listening to patriotic music. The national anthem will be presented at 10 p.m., just before the start of the fireworks display.
While some communities have discontinued fireworks displays, New Prague’s display is the result of private donations and RES Pyro, a local fireworks company. People have asked what the cost of the display is and the amount of money donated. The answer is the cost of the display is the amount of the money raised, said Paul Busch, a member of New Prague American Legion Post 45.
With a population of approximately 8,300, if everyone in New Prague gave $1 toward the cost of a fireworks show, the community would truly have a fantastic show, he said.
Donations toward the pyrotechnics display can be made at First Bank & Trust to the fireworks fund or be sent to the Park Ballroom, 300 Lexington Ave. S in New Prague, 56071. Additional information is also available from Paul Busch, 952-239-7771.
